Kane brings the bush to life for his guests. It starts with his mastery of ancient Bushman skills. Raised in the culture of the first people, Kane has an uncanny connection to the environment. He is highly skilled at tracking wildlife and predicting the behavior of animals. Kane is also a master of the modern. He is well-versed with the natural history of the species in Botswana and is an excellent communicator, who enthusiastically shares information with his guests.
We were privileged to spend seven nights with Kane as our guide at Selinda Explorers Camp in May of 2014. At the outset let me say that Kane is a really nice guy with a great sense of humour. He has a vast knowledge of the bush. His understanding of the resident animals is almost psychic, and our stay was hugely enriched by his ability to read and predict their behaviour. We saw an amazing diversity of animals and birds, and Kane was always sensitive to and respected the fact that we were intruding on their territory. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly being with a master of the bush, who seemed to communicate with the animals on their terms. I learnt so much about the wild life, and this is etched into my memory by the kaleidoscope of special moments we were privileged to share with Kane. A very unique experience!
Kane Motswana was our guide during a truly memorable and unique trip in Botswana last year. From the moment that we met at the airstrip, I was impressed with Kane’s confidence, maturity and quiet self assurance. I have been to many game parks /reserves in Southern Africa and in Kenya, but I have never yet met a guide who instilled in me, the conviction that we were safe, that we would view the animals at a respectful distance so as not to disturb them in their own habitat, that we would be kept informed of any potential danger or risks, and that our trips into the bush would be calm, carefully planned and very informative.
Kane is so obviously “in tune” with the bush and all its inhabitants both great and small; he shows an inbred familiarity with the behaviors’ of the animals, birds, insects, plants and trees. It was fascinating to listen to his quiet voice describing and discussing all that we saw before us, as we drove through the bush. Kane has a deep insight into the needs and wants of his guests, even though we had never met him before!
Kane’s seeming intimacy and ease with his surroundings created a calm peaceful atmosphere even for restless guests. Kane socialized very comfortably with all the guests no matter what their age or background. He initiated and took part in interesting friendly discussions at mealtimes on many topics.
I will certainly recommend Kane as a guide to anyone planning to immerse themselves in the Botswana Bush for a stimulating informative entertaining safe encounter with the African Wild. A good Ambassador for Botswana and Wildlife.
For several years, I looked for the perfect specialized guide that we could help my wife and I asemble a trip to Africa, we wanted to experoemce real camping, and I finally found the right person on one of my visits to a camp in Botswana. Not just a guide, but a bushman, and I think that once you have experienced what I did, then you will understand the difference. Through email correspondance, Kane put together and amazing itinerary for us, which included the following:

We went the whole way by vehicle, accompanied accompanied by a chef and an assistant, as well as our guide, Kane Motswana. We had a back up vehicle going with all our tents, equipment etc and everything was so well organised. The trip between Maun and Khwai approximately 3.5 hours. It was very pleasant, and gave us the opportunity to get talking and Kane answered any doubts or questions which arose. At one point, Kane invited us to follow a very mystical, spiritual ritual, to ask our ancestors to bless our journey… I won’t tell you too many details, I would hate to ruin any of many of the surprises that Kane has… It is incredible. Kane was not only a wonderful guide but was knowledgable on all the areas that we visited. The handles the animals! He will give you the unique opportunity of unimaginable photographs! In the first day of the trip, he promised me that we would see 7 leopards in 9 nights… Anyone who has been to Africa, knows that seeing leopards is very difficult. We saw eight! And once hunting!.
In summary… one of the best experiences of our lives. Thank you Kane… you are a master.
